I am a unique seafront villa, a treasure hidden on the shores of the north of Mauritius. I am located in a quiet and private environment in the compound of a very large family property.

Allow me to reveal a little secret: I once belonged to the first family to settle in Grand Bay and some say that the village of Grand Bay was built around me. I am 94 years old and have been always owned by the same family. I am a very precious asset of this family, who sometimes agree to share me. My owners simply adulate me and a well-trained and dedicated staff work hard to keep me magnificent so as to spoil you.

I am built in a traditional tropical style of days gone by. However I always managed to remain attractive, as evidenced by the well maintained lush garden which embellished me. I am much more than a house! I am a small tropical paradise where your holiday dreams in Mauritius become reality.

Combining the comforts of my own lagoon access with the pleasures of the pool, I am beyond luxury. I am a private peaceful haven. All those who come to stay fall inevitably under my charismatic spell.

My prime location in the best tourist destination in Mauritius needs no words, it is on all the tourist’s guides.

Villa Cattleya is a luxurious private beach villa surrounded by a tropical garden, including a spacious outdoor pool for residents. Its large living room, with stunning views of the pool on one side and of the lagoon on the other side is the center of the house. The charming villa offers all the comforts you need and is an ideal destination for all beach lovers. Enjoy the tranquility and the beauty of the tropical nature of Mauritius.

The coral esplanade on the lagoon, offers a spectacular view of Grand Bay harbor, where catamarans, sport fishing boats and traditional fishing canoes sail across the sea every day.

The lounge is decorated with furniture, old paintings and trinkets belonging to the family history. Comfortable sofas and armchairs invite you to stay in the lounge where you can relax enjoying the idyllic setting or watching the flat-screen TV with satellite channels. Security shutters are installed to ensure the guest’s safety at all times.

Master bedroom (Room No. 1), offers spectacular sea views. It is furnished in a romantic style with a large antique bed, shaded lamps and is decorated in soft beige tones. The style of the en-suite bathroom marks the period during which the house was built and comprises a bathtub, a separate shower, twin washbasins and a separated W/C.

Bedroom No. 2 is located in front of the pool. It has a double bed and is decorated in a blue shade, paintings by local artists and wooden shutters. The en-suite bathroom comprises a shower, a washbasin and a separated W/C.

Bedroom No. 3 is located opposite the pool. It is decorated in soft yellow shades with a different style than that of room No. 2. It includes a double bed, paintings by local artists and wooden shutters. The en-suite bathroom comprises a shower, a washbasin and a separated W/C.

The office (Room No. 4), adjoining the main bedroom, has an entrance next to the pool. It is equipped with a sofa/bed, a desk and has an en-suite bathroom, and a W/C.

The annex’ master bedroom (Room No. 5), with beige and turquoise shades, has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a separated W/C. A connecting door leads to the adjacent children's room.

The annex’ children room, is accessible from the master bedroom and has two small beds for babies or children aged up to three years.

The Annex Lounge
Under the annex’ veranda, a covered veranda offers a lounge with its rustic rattan furniture. It has views over the pool and the sea glistening in the background.

The Pool Bathroom and Shower are handy for residents, friends and families, and are found behind those two blue doors facing the swimming pool.

The kitchen and utility room with its hanging copper pans and its paintings reflect the history of the villa with the benefits of modernity. Two refrigerators and a large freezer ensure fresh food and cool drinks to be ready for the guests. A gas and electric hob and a microwave are available to prepare meals. The cupboards have a full range of domestic appliances, kitchen utensils, cutlery and crockery. The kitchen also features a stainless steel sink and a dishwasher.

The dining room is located behind the Main Lounge. It has a table and seating for up to twelve persons. Security shutters provide a safe environment at all times.

The game’s room, has green lamps, an antique card table and an antique library. For generations the owner’s family have been keen card players and this room has been carefully preserved as it bears precious memories.

The Pool Terrace is furnished with a round rattan table and four matching chairs, as well as a white table and several relax chairs. A Weber grill is another way to spend unforgettable moments and create beautiful holiday memories. A safety net is available to secure the pool if you wish.

The laundry room has a washing machine, a medicine cabinet, an iron and an ironing board.

Cattleya Villa offers an internet connection with free WI-FI access in every room.

The living room has a flat-screen LCD TV of 40 inches equipped with satellite channels Canal-SAT and a DVD player. It is furnished with two sofas, armchairs and a coffee table. The walls are decorated with paintings of local artists. The dining room has a table and chairs for 12 persons.

Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove with four gas burners and two electric hobs with a 90 cm oven, two refrigerators, a freezer, a microwave oven, a Nespresso coffee maker, an electric kettle, two stainless steel sinks, filters for drinking water, comprehensive household equipment, a dishwasher with a capacity of 12 cutlery and dishes for 12 persons.

The master bedroom has views overlooking the lagoon and is equipped with an air conditioning system. It includes a double bed of 1.80m, a en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, two washbasins, a separate W/C, a separate shower and a hairdryer. The windows are protected with security shutters.

La chambre principale de l’annexe (chambre No. 5), aux nuances crème et turquoise, dispose d’un lit double et d’une salle de bains en suite avec une douche et un W/C séparé. Une porte communicante mène à la chambre d’enfant adjacente.

La chambre d’enfant de l’annexe, est accessible depuis la chambre principale et comprend deux petits lits pour les bébés ou pour des enfants âgés de trois ans au maximum. La chambre d’enfant dispose de sa propre salle de bains attenante.

The very pleasant staff of Villa Cattleya

The competent and experienced cook, Kavita, works from Monday to Saturday, from 8h30 am to 15h30 pm, with the exception of bank holidays.

Kavita is bilingual (English and French speaking) and cooks typical Mauritian dishes and often happily adds a French touch to her cuisine. She prepares breakfast and one meal per day, a lunch OR a pre-cooked dinner.
Purchasing groceries is your responsibility.

The well-trained and helpful housemaid, Sunita, looks discreetly after to the welfare of the residents. She works from 08h30 am to 15h30 pm from Monday to Saturday, with the exception of bank holidays. Sunita is responsible for all the house works and laundry, but her task does not include ironing of the guests’ clothes. She is bilingual (English and French speaking).

Sunil, the gardener with a green hand, looks after the various plants in the lush garden surrounding the house and maintains them all in top-shape. He is bilingual (English and French speaking).
