Information about the Sights
-
Île aux Cerfs – East-coast icon with long sandy beaches and a calm, turquoise lagoon ideal for relaxing, swimming and easy snorkelling. Leisure facilities available on the island.
-
GRSE Waterfalls – Short, scenic stop at the Grande Rivière Sud-Est for photos and a refreshing dip in a lush river setting.
-
Blue Bay Marine Park (snorkelling) – Protected lagoon known for clear water and coral gardens. Great spot to see reef fish and colourful corals during a guided snorkel.
-
Eau Bleue (optional snorkelling stop) – a picturesque site named for its brilliant blue tones. Here, the inviting waters and peaceful surroundings make for a memorable swim or snorkelling break.
-
Île aux Aigrettes – a small coral island off Mahébourg that serves as a living showcase of Mauritius’ natural heritage. Once heavily degraded, it has been restored into a thriving nature reserve where you can spot giant tortoises, rare pink pigeons, the Mauritius kestrel and other species found nowhere else in the world. It’s a fascinating stop that highlights the island’s remarkable conservation success story.
-
Île au Phare (Île aux Fouquets) – L'Île aux Fouquets, also known as L’île au Phare (Phare Island), is a small rocky island of the Grand Port Bay. The Island was significant during the Battle of Grand Port between the French and the British. Its lighthouse, which was built in 1864 to guide ships to the port of Mahebourg, has defied centuries and still stands with all its majesty.
-
Île de la Passe – During the colonial era, the islet was a key factor in the defence of Mauritius, where the French and British inhabitants built defences. Today, the ruins of these defences, dating back two and a half centuries, are still present. An ideal site for a fascinating day trip, Ile de la Passe offers stunning views of the mainland and the turquoise sea as well as historic ruins of the defences, which will give you an insight into the battles that took place there, including the legendary Battle of Vieux Grand Port, which is commemorated by an inscription on the Arc De Triomphe in Paris.
-
Îlot Flamants – A small island that beckons both adventure seekers and those in search of a tranquil escape. This uninhabited gem, located approximately 10 kilometres (6 miles) from Grand Baie, spans about 1 hectare (2.5 acres) and is surrounded by crystal-clear azure waters.
Additional Optional Activities

Travelling from Bel Ombré was a long taxi ride but worth it. Il Aux Cerf is perfect. Our boat skipper was very good. We were very well looked after.
Everything was nice, the boadyrip, the driver, drinks in board, the picknick, seeing dolphins and the parasailing.
