About the Adventure along the Enchanting Coast of Gris Gris - Hiking, River Trekking & More!

If you're worried this hike might be too tiring — don’t be! This coastal walk is easy and suitable for everyone, no matter your fitness level. It’s popular with both teenagers and older adults, and you don’t need any hiking experience to enjoy it.

Located in the village of Souillac, Gris Gris is one of the most famous coastal spots in Mauritius. It’s known for its impressive sea cliffs, where you can admire sweeping views of the ocean. Since there’s no coral reef in this area, the waves crash directly onto the cliffs, creating dramatic and powerful splashes — a sight you won’t forget.

This adventure also includes a 200-metre river trek — a fun mix of walking, climbing over rocks, and even swimming. If you’ve never done anything like this before, don’t worry — it’s a great first-time experience and something you’ll definitely enjoy.

Along the way, you may come across some of the hidden caves of Gris Gris. While it’s not advised to go inside, you can safely admire them from a distance. If the conditions are right, you might even get to take a dip in a natural rock pool!

Don’t forget to check the shoreline — you might find some beautiful seashells along the beach to take home as a natural souvenir from your adventure.
