Route Overview: Flight From The North

Option 1 is a 30-minute flight tour from LUX* Grand Gaube where the atmosphere is rather serene with the calm lagoons and crystal clear water. Enjoy the beautiful view of the beaches and the LUX* Resort. As the helicopter elevates higher you will have the chance to see the isolated Coin de Mire, also known as Gunner’s Coin Islet. There is a possibility of seeing Amber Island as well, which is relatively large compared to most of the northern islets.

As you head to the northern coastline you will fly over the Cap Malheureux village where you can see the famous bright red 'Notre Dame Auxiliatrice' chapel which will certainly catch your attention. You will also fly over Calodyne - a fishing village which is dotted by colorful houses, apartments, hotels and resorts. The ocean is simply incredible from up above, as you can see the entire coral reefs of this part of the island.

The helicopter tour will also cover the Grand Bay village, famous for its eclectic range of apartments, hotels, resorts, restaurants, shopping malls, not to mention the Sunset Boulevard. Appreciate the beauty of the rural land also as you fly over the green patterns of the sugar cane fields.

You will fly further to the western side of the island to appreciate the awe-inspiring view of Trou aux Biches village which is circled by mountain ranges. Next, discover the Balaclava village renowned for its hotels and resorts with their aesthetically designed gardens. The beaches are fringed with palm trees thus giving the typical islander look. You can also see the mountain ranges in the far western part of the region.

Afterwards, the helicopter will lead towards the capital city of the island, Port-Louis. As you fly above the city you will see iconic buildings such as the State Bank of Mauritius, the Mauritius Telecom Tower, and also historical structures such as Citadel, and Appravasi Ghat. You can also appreciate the view of the harbour and mountain ranges, including the mountain peak of Pieter Both (the second highest mountain of Mauritius 820 meters).

The city is surrounded by mountain ranges, including Le Pouce (812 meters) which is the third highest mountain in Mauritius.

Time to set course for the entire west coast of the island starting with the vibrant Flic en Flac village, welcoming you with its vast ocean having a slight dark blue contrast with the lapping white waves crashing onto the shores. There are many resorts and hotels which are aligned beautifully and the lagoons are scattered with speedboats, catamarans and yachts.. You will also be able to enjoy the majestic views of the green mountain ranges, along with the sugar cane fields.

Then the helicopter will fly over Tamarin Bay where you can see surfers riding spectacular waves. Further to the western coast the view becomes more dramatic and scenic. Encounter the Ile aux Benitiers islet where you can appreciate the blissful beauty of Le Morne Brabant as well. Do not miss the famous yet tiny Crystal Rock, which adds a beautiful touch to the scenery. To add some green to this view, there is a huge area of lush casuarinas trees.
