About Mauritius' Only Big Cats Drive-Thru at Casela Nature Parks - A Full Day Safari Experience

If you have ever dreamed of coming face-to-face with lions and tigers — safely, of course — this is probably as close as it gets in Mauritius.

Famous for its wildlife encounters, Casela Nature Parks is home to the island’s only Big Cats Drive-Thru, a unique experience that takes you right into the big cats’ territory aboard a specially designed caged safari vehicle.

Once you meet your ranger and driver, the adventure begins. As the secured gates slowly open and the vehicle makes its way into the enclosure, the atmosphere changes instantly. You may even hear distant roars before spotting your first big cat.

Meet the Big Cats

The first stop is to see the Bengal tigers, with their iconic orange colour and dark stripes. But you’d also be pleasantly surprised to know that Casela is home to one of the rarest species of tiger in the world - the impressive white tiger. With its creamy white coat and blue-grey eyes, these majestic beasts will leave you in awe.

It won’t be long before you come close to the most famous big cat: the Lion, aka King of the Jungle! Lions do a lot of sleeping, but if you are lucky, you will see them striding majestically about their terrain or playing around. This is your chance to get some once-in-a-lifetime photographs of these fantastic big cats.

During the activity, the park’s guide will provide interesting information on the big cats, their behaviour and their habitat while sharing their personal experience of working alongside these remarkable animals.

Private VIP Option - Exclusive Drive Thru with the Big Cats  

For a truly VIP adventure, opt for the Exclusive Drive Thru with the Big Cats in maximum privacy - only you, your group, these amazing big cats and their keepers. For 45 minutes, you will be accompanied by a personal guide; receive personal guidance from the big cats’ keeper and benefit from various extras, away from the crowds.

*Available throughout the park at intervals of around 15 to 30 minutes. Long-distance rides are not recommended for pregnant women due to uneven paths.

Note: Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the park. 

• Activity time is subject to the available park time slots. Missed time slots are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
• There is no contact with the Big cats and you view them only from the safety of the fenced vehicle.
• The Drive Thru with Lions & Tigers are not recommended for expectant mothers due to the bumpy route. Participation is at their own risk.
• Visitors shall sign a disclaimer form before taking part in this activity.
• A visitor under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their legal guardian, at all times. The legal guardian shall sign the disclaimer form on behalf of the Minor.
• You must arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the activity, otherwise a 100% cancellation fee will apply.
• Access will not be granted without presentation of a ticket or voucher.
• The Safari Truck is complimentary with your entrance ticket and non-refundable if missed. To be noted, it is not recommended for expectant mothers and participation is at their own risk.
• Should the Tulawaka Gold Coaster be unavailable, clients will be offered access to the 4D Cinema as an alternative experience.

Health & Safety Notes

• Please do not scream, shout, kick, slap or jump up and down while in proximity to the animals.
• Participants must be physically and mentally fit; those with major hearing or visual impairments may not be permitted to participate. If the health and safety restrictions for your activity are not respected, "NO" refund will be considered. These rules are for your safety.
• Activities are still carried out in rain, and no refunds will be given if a client chooses to not participate. In the event of adverse weather, activities may be rescheduled for security purposes by the Management of the Park.
• IMPORTANT NOTE: Safety briefings are conducted in English, French or Mauritian Creole. Unless clients (who do not understand any of the mentioned languages) provide a translator, they cannot take part in any of the activities that include a safety talk for safety reasons.

Transport is available for an extra fee, with pick-up and drop-off from any accommodation in Mauritius.

How is the Transportation Fare calculated?

For transportation not included as part of the tour, the fare is calculated based on the set activity duration, the distance between your accommodation and the activity location (round trip).

Transport Payment

The payment for transportation is divided into two parts:

"Deposit": Payable at the time of booking, alongside your activity reservation. This deposit covers a portion of the total transportation fare.

"Amount Due to Driver": The remaining balance is payable in cash directly to the driver on the day of the activity. This final amount is calculated by subtracting the deposit from the total transportation cost.
