A guided hike through the natural flora of Mauritius with scenic views from one of the island’s highest points.

The Pieter Both stands majestically in the Moka Mountain Range. It is visible from most western, central, and northern roads during scenic drives across the island. Climbing and descending the mountain is a rewarding challenge for all outdoor enthusiasts.

The 4-hour route begins in a peaceful village nearby. Your guide will provide a briefing and instructions to accompany you along the trail. You’ll explore lush paths, discovering hidden treasures and enjoying the rich natural environment.

Along the way, your guides will share fascinating stories about Mauritius and the mountain. One of the island’s iconic landmarks, the human-head boulder near the summit, can be admired in the distance - a striking feature that adds to the mountain’s legendary character.

About Hiking In Mauritius

This little gem of an island rises dramatically above white sandy beaches, swaying palms, and azure lagoons. Being volcanic, Mauritius offers breathtaking summits and valleys to explore on foot, along with around 700 species of indigenous plants, making each hike vibrant and memorable.

Note: The 4-hour hike is only up to the mountain shoulder.

• Minimum number of participants: 2.
• Difficulty level: 4/5.
• Minimum age: 15 years old (minors must be accompanied by a paying adult).
• Maximum age: 60.
• Weight limitation: maximum 90 kilos.
• Participants should be physically fit and have recent climbing experience.
• It is the participants’ responsibility to follow instructions carefully. We shall not be responsible for any injury, loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings.
• Proper hiking gear will be provided.

To process any booking, clients should specify their experience level: beginner, intermediate, or experienced.

Transport is available for an extra fee, with pick-up and drop-off from any accommodation in Mauritius.

How is the Transportation Fare calculated?

For transportation not included as part of the tour, the fare is calculated based on the set activity duration, the distance between your accommodation and the activity location (round trip).

Transport Payment

The payment for transportation is divided into two parts:

"Deposit": Payable at the time of booking, alongside your activity reservation. This deposit covers a portion of the total transportation fare.

"Amount Due to Driver": The remaining balance is payable in cash directly to the driver on the day of the activity. This final amount is calculated by subtracting the deposit from the total transportation cost.
