Thrill-Packed Interaction with Rhinos - One of Africa's Big 5 Animals

At Casela Nature Parks, you’ll get the chance to meet Ella & Benji, two friendly white rhinos who quickly steal the spotlight. Seeing them from a distance is one thing - standing just a few steps away from them is something else entirely.

What to Expect? The rhino interaction is done early in the morning in their enclosure before they are released in the safari.  As you arrive at the site, you’ll feel like an African desert ranger, ready for some serious rhino-watching.

Safety guaranteed! No need to worry - you’re completely safe under the guidance of the expert handlers, who will fill you in on what’s ahead as you make your way to the enclosure.

Meet The Mighty Rhinos - This is when it starts to feel real. Up close, their size is seriously impressive - these animals are huge! But what surprises most people is how calm and friendly they can be. You’ll get the chance to pet and feed them, while learning more about their personalities, habits and conservation.

Fun Facts about Rhinos

• The White Rhino isn’t actually white – it’s named for its wide mouth, not its colour! 
• Rhinos can run up to 55 km/h, faster than most people can sprint.
• A rhino’s horn is made of the same stuff as your hair and nails – keratin.
• Rhino’s skin can be up to 5 cm thick but they still get sunburned.
• Rhinos communicate with snorts, grunts and even scent markings.
• Rhinos have relatively small brains (400–600 g) for their size, which is about the size of a grapefruit!
• The rhino is one of Africa's "Big 5," alongside the lion, elephant, leopard and buffalo!

Activities and attractions not included in your package are available on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Facilities:

• Lockers, toilets with diaper-changing tables, first-aid-trained staff, CCTV and complimentary shuttle service*

*Shuttles operate every 15–30 mins throughout the park, but long-distance rides are not recommended for pregnant women due to uneven terrain.

• Sunglasses should be removed during the activity

• Blue Bird Resto: The main restaurant serving gourmet dishes with breathtaking views of the west coast
• Wamwan Restaurant: Enjoy hamburgers, French fries, pizza & more, with chickens & peacocks roaming nearby
• Food Outlets: 3 small food outlets around the park offering light snacks, drinks and ice cream

Note: Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the park.  

• The Interaction with Rhinos is offered every day at 08:30 in the morning, before the park opens and they are released into the safari for the day.
• Maximum number of participants: 4 pax per slot
• Age Restriction: 10 years and above
• Bookings need to be made at least 72 hours in advance.
• You must arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the activity, otherwise a 100% cancellation fee will apply.
• No extra time will be allowed if customers arrive late.
• Access will not be granted without presentation of a ticket or voucher.
• The Safari Truck is complimentary with your entrance ticket and non-refundable if missed. To be noted, it is not recommended for expectant mothers and participation is at their own risk.
• Should the Tulawaka Gold Coaster be unavailable, clients will be offered access to the 4D Cinema as an alternative experience.

Health & Safety Notes

• Minors must remain under adult supervision at all times.
• Please do not scream, shout, kick, slap or jump up and down while in proximity to the animals.
• Participants must be physically and mentally fit; those with major hearing or visual impairments may not be permitted to participate. If the health and safety restrictions for your activity are not respected, "NO" refund will be considered. These rules are for your safety.
• Activities are still carried out in rain, and no refunds will be given if a client chooses to not participate. In the event of adverse weather, activities may be rescheduled for security purposes by the Management of the Park.
• IMPORTANT NOTE: Safety briefings are conducted in English, French or Mauritian Creole. Unless clients (who do not understand any of the mentioned languages) provide a translator, they cannot take part in any of the activities that include a safety talk for safety reasons.

Transport is available for an extra fee, with pick-up and drop-off from any accommodation in Mauritius.

How is the Transportation Fare calculated?

For transportation not included as part of the tour, the fare is calculated based on the set activity duration, the distance between your accommodation and the activity location (round trip).

Transport Payment

The payment for transportation is divided into two parts:

"Deposit": Payable at the time of booking, alongside your activity reservation. This deposit covers a portion of the total transportation fare.

"Amount Due to Driver": The remaining balance is payable in cash directly to the driver on the day of the activity. This final amount is calculated by subtracting the deposit from the total transportation cost.
