About the Sunrise or Sunset Hike at Le Pouce
Looking for a hike that stands out from the usual daytime trails? This guided experience at Le Pouce Mountain lets you choose between a sunrise or sunset hike, offering a quieter and more refreshing way to explore one of Mauritius’ most iconic peaks.
The adventure begins in Petit Verger, in the Moka district, where you’ll meet your experienced mountain guides and receive a short safety briefing before starting the ascent. The trail follows forest paths surrounded by native vegetation, creating a calm and pleasant setting away from the crowds.
As the hike progresses, open viewpoints reveal sweeping views over Port Louis, the Moka Range, and the surrounding landscape. A short rocky section leads to the summit, where you’re rewarded with a wide 360-degree panoramic view. At sunrise, the island slowly comes to life; at sunset, the changing light transforms the scenery as the day winds down.
The return is completed using a personal torchlight or headlamp, with guides accompanying the group throughout to ensure a safe and well-paced hike. Whether you start early or finish at dusk, this experience offers a rewarding way to enjoy the outdoors at a different time of day.
