Bois Chéri is the first tea plantation in Mauritius and dates back to 1892. Visiting the Bois Chéri Estate is one of the main sites of the Mauritian Tea Route. This is the spot where tea lovers will get to learn how tea is cultivated, picked and packaged.
You will travel back in history throughout this visit and get a surprising feeling of tranquility. This visit is a must if you are fond of history and tea, of course.

About the Visit & Tour of Bois Chéri + Optional Lunch
Level up your Mauritius experience with a tea-riffic adventure at Le Domaine de Bois Chéri! A guide will lead you through the factory and the tea plantation, which covers an impressive 250 hectares, making it one of the largest and oldest tea factories in Mauritius. You’ll discover the history, stories and tales of the Bois Chéri and the importance of tea production in Mauritius. You'll gain a deep understanding of the different stages of production of the tea-making process: from picking to packaging, withering, fermentation, drying and sieving.
After the guided tour of the tea factory, you will visit the tea production museum and learn more about the history of tea in Mauritius.
Bois Chéri also offers an array of flavoured teas, green teas, and herbal infusions, all available for an unlimited tasting during your visit.
And since you're bound to be hungry after the visit, we offer you the chance to book an optional lunch at Le Bois Chéri restaurant for just a small supplement! Perched atop the estate, this scenic spot boasts panoramic views of southern Mauritius' rolling green hills and sprawling tea fields. It's the perfect setting for a romantic meal or a peaceful family lunch.
For the animal lovers, the Domaine is home to a delightful variety of wildlife, including deer, wild boar, chickens and ducks. These charming creatures roam freely around the estate, adding a unique touch to your visit. You'll even have the opportunity to see and interact with them as you explore.
Before you leave, make a stop at the on-site shop, where you can grab a pack of Bois Chéri's exclusive tea biscuits, available only at the estate. These delicious treats, along with some fresh tea, make for the perfect souvenir to share with loved ones or relive your experience.
