Hiking Trip - Pouce Mountain - Half Day
Prepare for an invigorating hiking experience that begins at the picturesque foothills of the awe-inspiring Petit Verger mountain. As you arrive at the starting point, your expert guide will warmly welcome you, setting the stage for an exciting adventure ahead.
After a comprehensive briefing, you'll embark on a guided expedition, venturing towards the base of the mountain before embarking on an exhilarating 1 hour and 30 minutes ascent to conquer the summit of Le Pouce mountain. Get ready to push your limits and be rewarded with breathtaking views as you conquer the heights!
The first part of the mountain is perfectly built to warm up your muscles, starting off with a slope of which the gradient increases as you progress into the climb before changing into a rocky path of ascending twists and turns.
Once you reach the halfway point, it's almost as if you are back on the ground with an almost flat plateau with some hills and ditches before you reach the final part of the climb- a steep climb to the summit. Once you reach the top, be sure to touch the rock which is the absolute highest point of the mountain!
From the peak you will have an amazing 360-degree view of Mauritius. The sight of the northern part of the island is splendid, with a beautiful view of the northern small islands of Mauritius- Flat Island, Round Island and Snake Island. You will also get to look down onto the capital and to the west part of the island.
About Le Pouce Mountain
Located in the North West of the island between the Pieter Both and the Signal mountain, Le Pouce Mountain is the third highest in Mauritius, peaking at 812m. The first person to climb Le Pouce is accredited as Charles Darwin.
Also known as ‘The Thumb’ peak, it offers one of the most beautiful views of the capital: Port Louis, as well as of Moka and the high grounds of Plaine Wilhems. From the summit you will hike down enjoying the great views till you get back to the starting point at Moka.
