Swimming with dolphins and encountering whales in the wild is one of the most rewarding marine experiences Mauritius has to offer. This private outing gives you the rare opportunity to share several unforgettable hours at sea with only your chosen companions, far from crowded decks and fixed itineraries.

With your own speedboat and experienced skippers guiding the way, you’ll discover the west coast from a different perspective, where open waters, dramatic coastal scenery and marine life come together in a setting few visitors experience so closely.

• Thrilling Speed Boat Ride: Your journey begins with a briefing before heading out towards the dolphin and whale observation areas. The speedboat allows you to reach the right zones efficiently compared to catamarans, while your skippers share insights about marine life, safety guidelines and responsible wildlife interaction.     
• Swim with the Dolphins: The west coast is particularly renowned for its resident pods of Bottlenose and Spinner Dolphins. Unlike controlled pool encounters, this experience takes place in their natural environment. Entering the open sea to observe dolphins up close is both moving and humbling - a moment many visitors describe as a highlight of their stay in Mauritius.
• Whale Watching Offshore: The outing may also take you further offshore in search of whales. Watching a whale surface, breathe and dive beneath the ocean is an unforgettable sight. Depending on the season, you may encounter Sperm Whales - the largest toothed whales - known for their impressive size and deep dives - as well as other species recorded in Mauritian waters.
• Snorkelling & Relaxed Moments at Sea: To complete the experience, you will have time to snorkel near the reefs and explore the lagoon’s colourful marine life. Snorkelling equipment is provided on board, along with refreshments including water and soft drinks. The combination of wildlife encounters, open-sea swimming, and lagoon snorkelling makes this outing far more than a simple boat trip.

A Closer Look at Mauritius’ Marine Life

The waters off the west coast host a remarkable diversity of marine mammals. Bottlenose Dolphins, known for their intelligence and social behaviour, often travel in pods that rest nearshore before heading offshore to feed. Spinner Dolphins, smaller and highly agile, are famous for their acrobatic leaps and spinning displays above the water’s surface.

The Sperm Whale, the most iconic whale found around Mauritius, can reach up to 18 metres in length and is recognised for its powerful deep dives in search of squid and fish.

Other species such as Blainville’s Beaked Whale, Gray’s Beaked Whale and the Dwarf Sperm Whale have also been recorded in Mauritian waters.

• Minimum age: 3 years old (Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.)
• Maximum no. of participants: 6 persons (up to 2 additional participants may be arranged upon prior request, subject to availability)
• Advance booking is required at least 24 hours prior to the activity date.
• The exact meeting point, duration and departure time will be confirmed at the time of booking, depending on availability.
• Participants must arrive at least 15 minutes before departure time.

Note:

• This trip is not recommended for pregnant women.
• Clients with limited mobility must specify their weight at the time of booking.
• Participants prone to sea sickness are advised to take necessary precautions before departure.
• All clients must fill in and sign a Disclaimer Form before participating in this activity.
• Life vests must be worn at all times, and all instructions given by the skippers must be followed during the outing.
• There’s a high probability of encountering dolphins and whales during this trip. In case they are not spotted, there will be no money refunded.
• Depending on sea conditions and the route taken, you may get the chance to see Crystal Rock. However, it cannot be guaranteed and no refund applies if it is not visited.
• The management reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the trip in case of unfavourable weather or sea conditions for safety reasons.

Transport is available for an extra fee, with pick-up and drop-off from any accommodation in Mauritius.

How is the Transportation Fare calculated?

For transportation not included as part of the tour, the fare is calculated based on the set activity duration, the distance between your accommodation and the activity location (round trip).

Transport Payment

The payment for transportation is divided into two parts:

"Deposit": Payable at the time of booking, alongside your activity reservation. This deposit covers a portion of the total transportation fare.

"Amount Due to Driver": The remaining balance is payable in cash directly to the driver on the day of the activity. This final amount is calculated by subtracting the deposit from the total transportation cost.
