Otentic Eco Tent Overview

Otentic is the only eco tented glamping site in Mauritius. Located in the small village of Deux Freres on the east coast of Mauritius, one of the least developed parts of the island. It is equipped with 12 safari tents and two wooden chalets where you can stay in complete privacy, in the heart of a magnificent natural environment.

At Otentic Eco Tent, everything is done to preserve the confidentiality and the entirety of the site: a limited number of guests, a warm and personalized welcome, and gestures for the environment that make all the difference. The establishment has its own restaurant and offers many activities related to nature: mountain biking, kayaking, hiking.

Otentic Eco Tent - Location

Otentic Eco Tent is set in the East of Mauritius.

Grand Baie, the north, is around 40 minutes away from the property. The beach in the east is popular for and snorkeling. Guests can enjoy various activities in the surroundings, including diving and fishing.

The east coast is most renowned, with some of the most celebrated hotels and stretches of arguably the most beautiful white sand beaches. The region is surrounded by coastal villages where tourists usually go to to have an authentic experience of how locals live. Many tourist shops can be found in the village centre and you could try some very local snacks like ‘gato piment’ and ‘roti’.

Live the unique experience of staying in a comfortable tent by the river or perched at the top of the mountain to be free and disconnected from everything in the heart of nature. The Otentic Eco Tent Experience offers accommodation that is perfectly integrated into the landscape and respects the environment. Electricity is provided by solar panels, hot water by a solar panel, waste is sorted and rainwater recycled.The establishment has 12 tents and 2 chalets:

Tents

The tents are covered with a flysheet to protect you from the sun and keep you dry in case of rain. You have the choice between mountain view or River view. The tents are mounted on stilts 1 or 2 m from the ground. The decoration recalls the environmental commitment of the eco lodge.Each tent has comfortable beds, a bathroom with private shower and toilet, and a small outdoor terrace.. It includes a private bathroom with a shower.The tent can accommodate up to 2 adults and 3 children.It has many amenities such as free toiletries, bathtub or shower, fan, laptop safe, sitting area, terrace, outdoor furniture, outdoor dining area and socket near the bed.The upper floors is accessible by stairs only

Wooden chalets

The wooden chalet is perched on stilts 1 to 2 meters above the ground, with an area of 50 m², each structure includes a large terrace, a private bathroom and toilet.In order to respect the environment, recycled and completely removable materials are used, such as wood from old Creole houses used to support the basins in the bathrooms. Photovoltaic panels for electricity, solar water heater, waste sorting, rainwater storage.

The Otentic Eco Tent Experience restaurant overlooks the river, not far from the swimming pool, and offers daily local specialties cooked with fresh produce. In a confidential and natural setting, come and taste delicious “homemade” dishes, cooked with passion directly on site.The Otentic Eco Tent Experience restaurant has set itself the goal of being self-sufficient in organic vegetables. A desire that perfectly reflects the ecolodge spirit of Otentic Eco Tent Experience.

Poolside Bar

Relax with a refreshing drink from a poolside bar.You will have various selections of refreshments,local spirits and many more alternatives to choose from.

Breakfast

Every morning, a breakfast of seasonal fruits , fresh juice and freshly ground coffee will be served to you in a good mood from 7 to 10 am . Otentic Eco Tent Experience offers an assortment of seasonal fruits , old-fashioned bread , homemade jams and yogurts , eggs , omelets , ham and cheese to give you the energy you need to get your day off to a good start.

Lunch

For lunch you will have various choices such as Salad ourites zest of kaffir lime , Rougaille Creole sausage , curry crab and bringelles coconut milk , Vindaye of seafood , Tuna tartare , chutney of green mango , eggplant caviar smoked over a wood fire , salads candy apple , green papaya pickles and bilimbi are just a small sample of what you will enjoy for lunch accompanied by a lemonade or a homemade iced tea .

Dinner

Every evening Otentic Eco Tent Experience offers grills over a wood fire or a la plancha . A meat , a fish or kebabs are served accompanied by 2 or 3 course vegetarian , a salad and a dessert .You will end the evening by tasting a little rum arranged or an infusion of lemongrass from the garden around a campfire .

Vegetarian

You are a vegetarian, don't worry. Every evening you will have the choice between 6 or 7 vegetarian dishes .Otentic Eco Tent Experience can offer you a balanced vegetarian meal for lunch and dinner.

The Beach Experience

Otentic Eco Tent Experience is not located directly on the beach. On the other hand from home you can explore the Ile aux Cerfs , the Mangenie island or the Flemish islet , three islets located in the crystalline lagoon of the east coast … They shelter the beautiful beaches of Mauritius .Every morning, the free canoe will take you to Ile aux Cerfs at 9:30 am , before everyone else.Otentic Eco Tent Experience will guide you where to go on the island to enjoy virgin beaches .You will spend 2h30 on the island and then the canoe will bring you back to Otentic at 1pm for lunch

Otentic River Experience

In this part of the east coast of Mauritius, there is no luxury, just a place where modernity has not yet come to shake up authenticity and simplicity.The inhabitants of the villages of Deux Frères and Quatre Sœurs all know each other. Many of them still make a living from fishing and their own culture. To the rhythm of the Grande Rivière Sud-Est which runs alongside the village, life flows slowly. The Mangrove protects the coastline and is home to crustaceans and shellfish.It is in this picturesque setting that Otentic Eco Tent Experience has chosen to set up the river experience.

Otentic Mountain Experience

This unique and magical place located on the side of the Bambous mountain, in the still virgin valley of Bambous Virieux, only 3 km from the sea, will allow you to relax and recharge your batteries for a few nights, in peace.No phone or WiFi in the mountain experience. Take advantage of a few nights with Otentic Eco Tent Experience to do a technological detox.

Two all-terrain shuttles (4 X 4) per day connect the river and mountain experiences. You can still enjoy all the river activities for free even by staying on the mountain site.If you want to go to the beach, you can also take advantage of the free canoe to Ile aux Cerfs every morning at 9.30am.
