When designer Camille Walala saw the Mauritian bright blue skies, pink sunsets, green sugarcane fields, and the explosion of diverse paint colours used to decorate the houses in the village, it was love at first sight. She was full of inspiration when she collaborated with local architecture studio JFA on the design of SALT of Palmar. Camille’s bold style meets Mauritius’ soulful style. And with local makers creating the furniture, art, and finer details, the Mauritian influence comes through loud and clear. It makes the boutique hotel completely unique. It’s inspiring. And it’s a very happy place to be.

The Bang on Beach rooms vary from 30.7 m2 to 33.6 m2 and are above the beach’s pristine sand facing east onto the turquoise lagoon. The sound of the lapping waves will bring you to the top of relaxation, thus a good night of sleep, where the sun is going to rise right before you.

Pool Plus

SALT of Palmar has only one main restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant offers a buffet.

The restaurant offers fresh, local, and tasty foods. SALT of Palmar knows the names of their farmers, fishermen, and growers, that is why their ingredients are their stars. SALT of Palmar has a herb wall and a vegetable cellar that depicts their abundance. In the kitchen, they look for simple, ancient cooking methods.

The wok, the tandoor oven and the charcoal grill are the trinity of SALT of Palmar and they tend to smoke anything and everything to release and enhance the flavour of their food.They also marinate and slow cook their foods for hours over wood overnight.

For the dishes, they offer Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and our local flavours, but they are open to create and clients are free to join them in the kitchen anytime.

Palmar is located on the eastern coast of Mauritius in the district of Flacq and is less than one hour from the international airport and a few mins away from the commercial area of central Flacq. Palmar is situated about 48 km east of Port Louis the Capital of Mauritius and the drive takes around 1 hour.
