About the Colonial House Villa

The Colonial House is the very last authentic colonial home still standing on the Northern coast of Mauritius. It has remained in the same family ever since it was built, and has been faithfully restored together with its original antique furniture in 2011.

A huge 1888 cast-iron gate opens onto manicured tropical gardens, filled with flowers, palm trees and hundred-year-old flame trees: you’ve arrived at The Colonial House. The view from the beautiful terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean is spectacular. From there you can watch the sun rise to your right and set to your left above the Northern Islets of Mauritius.

The long private white sand beach stretches for miles just below the slate pool and deck. Thanks to the thatched roofs and high ceilings, the broad rooms of The Colonial House are cool at all times.

Filled with its priceless original antiques from the late XVIIth to the early XXth century, this Old Lady is a unique reminder of the glory of the colonial era.

Since the Colonial House is the very last authentic colonial home still standing on the Northern coast of Mauritius, in order to guarantee the continuous preservation of the house, all guests must make sure to follow these guidelines:

• No Barbecue, No Firecrackers, No Fireworks, No Candles
• Smokers must ensure their cigarettes are not lit when being trashed
• Furniture (not referring to the outside deck furniture) must no be moved from the inside of the house and must no be exposed to rain and sun
